An early start to catch the tide, the boats rigged and dropped their moorings at 08:30. Race start from the Line on the Green in front of the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club at 08:45.
With about 1 hour to high water, strong current in the channel split the fleet with some going out on the banks to avoid the current while others kept close in shore. Luckily for the former, the wind was better off shore and an early spinnaker hoist helped to get Gwalch to B8 first. The course was starboard round the mark and then head for home with the finish line between C1 and C2 at the start of the Channel.
Not much opportunity for tactics on this straight run home but all the crews enjoyed surfing down the slight swell with the wind behind. Gwalch first over the line at 1 hour 18 mins, a very good time for the crossing.
