We’re an inclusive, supportive sailing and rowing club where members of all ages and abilities can enjoy time on the water in good company, enhance skills and release any competitive spirit as much or as little as they choose
Founded in 1911, Conway Yacht Club is one of the oldest in the area and an established part of Conwy history. We’re proud to be keeping two of North Wales’ proudest nautical traditions – Celtic Longboats and the Conway One Design yacht – in robust health.
Conwy harbour and the bay offer fantastic opportunities for getting out on the water surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the castle, the town and the backdrop of peaks of Snowdonia.
Our Clubhouse, located in the heart of Deganwy, has superb views over the estuary to Conwy Castle and is a great place to hang out after adventures on the water and socialise with other members.
We offer a mix of activities around:
- A sailing section with a Cruiser Class and the classic Conway One Design (CODs) sailing fleet, with its strong local historical significance
- Deganwy Rowers, our active rowing section with Celtic longboats and sculls
- A vibrant social scene centred around the Clubhouse Boat Bar hosting social events and our keen Snooker Group
Aside from our obvious passion for the sea and traditional watercraft, what unites us is a lively, supportive camaraderie where everyone is welcome but those who wish to push the boundaries of their sport are given all the support, resources and expert mentorship they need.
So whether you’re a seasoned sailor, a competitive rower or a newcomer eager to learn, our club offers you a warm welcome, an engaging social life and plenty of great experiences on the horizon.
Sailing
The Club is proud to be the home of the historic Conway One Design fleet – classic yachts designed and built specifically for sailing in and around the Conwy estuary
Part of the Conwy seascape for nearly 100 years, the early wooden CODs were built in local boatyards between 1928 & 1946. GRP moulds were introduced in 1988, from where the rest of the current COD fleet originate.
Thanks to local enthusiasts forming the COD Centenary Project, all 14 wooden-hull CODs still exist, with most seaworthy.

Rowing
Deganwy Rowers were established within Conway Yacht Club in 2019. We are an all-inclusive club, welcoming people keen to row across all ages, abilities and interests.
Situated on the beautiful Conwy Estuary in Deganwy, it’s a perfect and protected position for launching and rowing, which means we can row all year round, weather permitting.
We provide a mix of social and competitive rowing in our Celtic Longboats and Sculls, and we welcome all visiting affiliated rowers.

Club & Community
Outside of the clubhouse, Conway Yacht Club members are active within our surrounding community, and freely support local events and groups, with rowing or sailing demonstrations, event stalls and displays, catering or marshalling volunteers and on-the-water tasters for schools and other organisations.

Welcome Aboard
It is a privilege to serve this respected club, which has long been the home for passionate sailors, rowers, dedicated members and a strong sense camaraderie on and off the water.
