CYC News - June 2009

The summer is upon us and hopefully will be warm and sunny, and, with this in mind, I write to confirm forthcoming events for your diary and enjoyment.

First off is Midsummer Madness evening at the Club (madness optional!) on Saturday 20^th June.  Don't forget to put your names down on the list in the Club (01492 583690 after 5.30pm).

Next is Fleet Day on Saturday 27^th June at which we are hoping to get as many craft, either power or sail, to gather off the Club Tower at 2:00pm for a leisurely meander around the estuary marks before an early evening BBQ at the Yacht Club.

This event is followed by President's Day on Sunday 28^th June with yacht racing (all welcome) commencing at 3:00pm followed by cold buffet and prize giving at the Club.

There will be one of Hazel's Surprise evenings on Friday 3^rd July – The surprise is that Paul will be lighting the BBQ so not to be missed! Again, please put your names on the list.

The Club's Annual BBQ with spit roast and live group "The Dan Buoys", plus games and entertainment, will be held again Chez Hardman on ll July and commences at 2:30pm.  This occasion is the Club's main summer event and good attendance by members will help to make it a successful event.

Finally, Straits Fortnight commences on Monday 10^th August with Conway Yacht Club Regatta Day on Friday 21^st August, commencing at 11:00am.  Will any Club members who would like to assist on the Tower at Beaumaris Green on that day please contact me (01492 650434).  All assistance would be very much appreciated and rewarded with a buffet lunch.  It's a great day out both in entertainment and spectacle.

Whilst writing, may I remind you all that the Club subscriptions which have been maintained again this year without increase, will become due on 1^st July.  I am aware that our Membership Secretary will be sending out notifications and invoices to you all shortly.  May I request that all members remit their fees to the Secretary within a reasonable period of receipt.

As you will appreciate, the Conway Yacht Club, run on your behalf by a dedicated Committee and loyal help, needs the funds generated by subscription to maintain its existence, especially in these troubled times, so please remit your subscription on receipt of the invoice.
